Plasma Fibroblast

Welcome to a brand new category of skin rejuvenation. Plasma Fibroblast is the most remarkable skin treatment we have ever witnessed.

The ARC technology in the plasma pen creates an energetic burst in the shape of an arc between the device and the skin. When this energy reacts with the nitrogen molecules in the air within 1 mm of the top of your skin, plasma energy is created and is delivered through the skin (the device doesn’t actually touch your skin). Pretty cool, right? Oh but there’s more...

When the skin receives a controlled plasma injury, it goes through something called sublimation, which is the process of turning matter from a solid to a gas, bypassing the liquid stage all together. We are essentially evaporating excess tissue, which causes an instant contraction of the tissue while at the same time stimulating collagen and elastin production. Is your mind blown yet?!

A Plasma Fibroblast skin tightening treatment is often referred to as “soft surgery” because it rivals the results of plastic surgery, without the cost, risk, downtime, and incisions/scars. It eliminates fine lines and wrinkles, tightens and lifts the skin, minimizes the appearance of stretch marks and scars, improves tone and texture, provides overall skin resurfacing, erases hyperpigmentation, reduces pore size, and builds a whole bunch of yummy collagen.

FAQS

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
We use a medical grade numbing agent that is the strongest numbing cream available (30% benzocaine, 10% lidocaine, 6% tetracaine). We also perform a double numbing method, where you are numbed a SECOND time after the skin resurfacing step.  You can expect minimal discomfort during the skin resurfacing step but patients often don't feel much during the pointillism step (the 2nd step).

ARE THERE ANY RISKS?
Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening is non-invasive, but like with any cosmetic procedure, there are always risks of side effects.  You must be a proper candidate for this procedure (we will help you decide if you are), but more importantly, in order to avoid any serious side effects such as hyper-pigmentation and scarring, it is essential that patients follow the aftercare instructions.

WHAT IS THE MOST POPULAR AREA TREATED?
The most popular area treated is the eyes.  You can even treat the eyelid!  Treating the eyelid with an energy based aesthetics device is unheard of (except with CO2, but you have to use ocular shields and it has to be performed by a doctor).  Have you been considering eyelid surgery (upper blepharoplasty) but don’t want the scar, price tag, and downtime?  Now you have another option.  The treatment of smoker lines around the mouth is also very popular as well as the neck.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM DURING THE HEALING PHASE?
There is some downtime associated with this procedure, so plan accordingly, as you will not look your best.  The plasma flash causes small carbon crusts to form on the skin, which looks like a bunch tiny brown dots.  These dots take about 7-10 days to naturally flake off the face, and longer for the rest of the body.  Also, you may experience some swelling in the treated area, particularly in the eye area. The swelling will diminish over a period of 2-5 days.

WHEN CAN I RESUME MY NORMAL MAKEUP & SKINCARE ROUTINE?
As soon as all of the carbon crusts have naturally flaked off, you can resume your skin routine, being extra diligent to protect your skin every day with a mineral based sunscreen.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
You will actually start seeing results right after your treatment, but the positive effects will be more noticeable at 12 weeks, with continuing improvement up to a year.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Plasma Fibroblast is more than just a skin tightening treatment, because the plasma flash causes skin to actually be removed, so the effects can last as long as the results from invasive surgery, but just like all surgical or cosmetic procedures, the effects of a Plasma Fibroblast treatment are not entirely permanent because the ageing process never stops (unfortunately).  Depending on your skin, age, and life-style choices, the results can last for 3-5 years. Of course the results are not as impressive, nor last as long, for those who are sun worshippers, smokers, and excessive alcohol consumers.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
It depends on the degree of elasticity loss.  Sometimes just 1 treatment is needed.  Sometimes 2-3 are needed for more optimal results.  Mandy will assess your skin to see how many treatments are needed to help you achieve your skin health goals.

CAN ALL SKIN TYPES BE TREATED?
All skin types can receive a skin resurfacing treatment, but darker skin cannot receive the pointillism technique due to a high risk of hyper or hypopigmentation with darker skin.  An evaluation will be required to assess if you are a candidate for one or both steps.

WHY SHOULD I BOOK THIS TREATMENT AT HEY BUTTERFLY?
Our licensed medical aesthetician, Mandy Lauderdale, has been in the aesthetics field for over 20 years.  She has operated just about every single energy based device in the field and is extremely well versed in the science of the skin.  She is an expert in performing Plasma Fibroblast treatments and is a certified Advanced Plasma Fibroblast Technician.  Surprisingly, there are many people offering Plasma Fibroblast treatments in the US who are not medical professionals, using cheap devices you can buy online, without any training whatsoever.  This technology should only be performed by someone who is licensed in medical aesthetics, using a Plasma Fibroblast device that is FDA cleared.  Mandy uses the PlasmaMD Plasma Pen, which is an FDA cleared, German engineered pen by Plasma Concepts (the #1 Plasma Fibroblast company in the world).
