Plasma Skin Resurfacing

Plasma Skin Resurfacing is just as it sounds: it’s a skin resurfacing treatment that uses plasma energy.

We use the same device that is used for a Plasma Fibroblast treatment, but it’s used in a manner to resurface the skin like a CO2 procedure, while also removing all skin lesions like cherry angiomas, sun spots, spider veins and skin tags, like a ThermoClear treatment. Over the course of a week, the skin sheds similar to a chemical peel. Yep, all in 1 treatment.

FAQS

IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
We use a medical grade numbing agent that is the strongest numbing cream available (30% benzocaine, 10% lidocaine, 6% tetracaine). We also perform a double numbing method, where you are numbed a SECOND time after we perform 1 pass (you will receive a total of 2 passes).  You can expect minimal discomfort during the first pass but patients often don't feel any discomfort during the 2nd pass.

ARE THERE ANY RISKS
Plasma Skin Resurfacing is non-invasive, but like with any cosmetic procedure, there are always risks of side effects.  You must be a proper candidate for this procedure (we will help you decide if you are), but more importantly, in order to avoid any serious side effects such as hyper-pigmentation and scarring, it is essential that patients follow the aftercare instructions.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM DURING THE HEALING PHASE?
There is some downtime associated with this procedure, so plan accordingly, as you will not look your best.  Your skin will be very red and will look like it has a bunch of tiny scratches on it.  These marks will develop into a rough texture.  It takes about a week for this rough skin to shed and longer for the rest of the body.  Also, you may experience some swelling, particularly in the eye area. The swelling will diminish over a period of 2-3 days.

WHEN CAN I RESUME MY NORMAL MAKEUP & SKINCARE ROUTINE?
As soon as the skin has shed the rough texture, you can resume your skin routine, being extra diligent to protect your skin every day with a mineral based sunscreen.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
You will actually start seeing results right after your skin has shed the rough texture, but the positive effects will be more noticeable at 12 weeks, with continuing improvement up to a year.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Depending on your skin, age, and life-style choices, the results can last for about a year.  Of course the results are not as impressive, nor last as long, for those who are sun worshippers, smokers, and excessive alcohol consumers.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
It depends on the skin.  Sometimes just 1 treatment is needed.  Sometimes 2 are needed for more optimal results.  Mandy will assess your skin to see how many treatments are needed to help you achieve your skin health goals.

CAN ALL SKIN TYPES BE TREATED?
YES!  Isn’t that exciting?!  It’s why we prefer a Plasma Skin Resurfacing treatment over a CO2 laser treatment.  Also, not only are the results very similar to a CO2 laser treatment, there is less downtime and risk associated with a Plasma Skin Resurfacing treatment as well as it being much easier on your wallet (CO2 laser treatments range from $1500 - $3000 just for the face).
